News CANADA: Sears Festival Marks 50 Years The Sears Ontario Drama Festival will celebrate 50 years of creating theatre with two special events in May.

The Sears Ontario Drama Festival will celebrate 50 years of creating theatre with two special events in May. One of the largest student drama festivals in North America will kick off May 6 with a gala. From May 7-11, 15 dramatic productions, chosen from more than 300 performed and adjudicated across the province, will be staged.

Both events take place at the historic Hart House Theatre on the grounds of the University of Toronto.

Some famous alumni of the festival are: Margot Kidder, David Cronenberg, Hagood Hardy, Nick Mancuso, Susan Hogan, Seana McKenna, Helen Shaver and R.H. Thomson.

Tickets for the gala are $50 (Canadian). Tickets for the plays, three performed each evening, are $10 per evening.
