The ABC studios pilot – based on the 1998 series of the same name that featured Jeremy Piven in the title role – casts Cannavale as the matchmaker, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In "Cupid" Cannavale will play Trevor Hale, a man who believes himself to be the god of love who has been banished to earth until he unites 100 couples in endless bliss. The original series was created by Rob Thomas of "Veronica Mars."
Bobby Cannavale made his Broadway debut in 2007 with Mauritius. He has appeared Off-Broadway in Hurlyburly and Fucking A. An Emmy winner for his recurring role on "Will & Grace," Cannavale has also appeared on screen in "M.O.N.Y.," "Six Feet Under," "Ally McBeal," "The Exonerated," "100 Centre Street" and "Sex and the City."
