The 9:30 PM concert will benefit Hope North, a 40-acre campus in Uganda where refugees, orphans and former child soldiers find a place to call home. Directed by Birnbaum, performers will include Capathia Jenkins (Newsies), Chester Gregory II (Sister Act), Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening), Michael James Scott (The Book Of Mormon), C.E. Smith (Leap of Faith), Maurice Murphy (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Tony winner Lillias White (Fela!), Saycon Sengbloh (Hair), recording artist Ryan Shaw, Anwar Robinson ("American Idol"), Jamie Cepero ("Smash"), Destan Owens (Rent), Jerry Dixon (tick, tick… BOOM!) and Darius Anthony Harper (The Book of Mormon national tour).
According to press notes, "Broadway's most powerful voices join members of James Browns original band to pay tribute to Don Cornelius, Soul Trains legendary television host who brought black culture and music into America's living rooms."
