Classic Arts News Career Transition for Dancers Presents Annual Gala October 24 Career Transition for Dancers holds its annual gala on October 24 at New York City Center.
The gala at New York City Center supports the organization's efforts to help former dancers establish new careers. Titled "That's Entertainment," it is produced and directed by Ann Marie DeAngelo; Liza Minnelli is the host. Performers include Paloma Herrera and Jos_ Manuel Carreê±o of American Ballet Theatre and the Joffrey, as well as theater and television stars including Sandy Duncan, Ben Vereen, Malcolm McDowell, and Bebe Neuwirth.

Herrera and Carreê±o dance the pas de deux from Petipa's Paquita; the Joffrey performs artistic director Gerald Arpino's Ruth: Ricordi Per Due. The event honors the Joffrey Ballet, the Harkness Foundation for Dance, and Lewis S. Ranieri, chairman of American Ballet Theatre. The Joffrey and Arpino will receive CTD's Rolex Dance Award in honor of the company's 50th anniversary. The Harkness Foundation and Ranieri will both be presented with the Career Transition for Dancers' Award for outstanding contributions to the world of dance.

Tickets for the performance only are $45-$125 and are available through the City Center box office, 212-581-1212, and www.citycenter.org. Gala tickets, which include post-performance dinner and dancing, are $550 and $1,000; call 212- 764-0172 for more information.
