The Transport Group will open actor-playwright John Cariani's new work Cul-de-sac April 30, after previews from April 20 at the Connelly Theatre.

The dark comedy "explores the bizarre secrets of three houses in one neighborhood on an ordinary spring evening" and "tells the stories of three couples on a suburban dead end street who go to extreme measures to force their dreams, revealing long-suppressed agendas that threaten their survival."

The cast features Cariani himself, Nicole Alifante, Robyn Hussa, Monica Russell, James Weber and John Wellmann. Opening night is April 30.

Cariani's Almost, Maine received a brief run earlier this season, closing Feb. 12 after 30 previews and 37 performances at the Daryl Roth Theatre in Union Square.

As an actor, Cariani has starred in Two Gentlemen of Verona in Central Park, and won a Tony nomination for playing Motel the Tailor in Broadway's Fiddler on the Roof.

The Transport Group has presented such Off-Broadway musicals as First Lady Suite, Normal and The Audience.
