Ted Sod directs the reading of the play. Blessing is known for A Walk in the Woods, Thief River, Eleemosynary and Cobb. The play concerns a son who seeks out the father he never met, Sod told Playbill On-Line. The father is a retired umpire and baseball fanatic and thinks the son's arrival has put his team on a winning streak.

Cariou appeared in National Actors Theatre's The Persians, as well as Broadway's Proof, Applause, Sweeney Todd and The Dinner Party. Jake Robards was seen in Westport Country Playhouse's production of Our Town on Broadway and PBS (he was Howie Newsome).

The reading is 7 PM Nov. 3 at the John Houseman Studio Theatre. For more information, industry folk can contact [email protected] or Judy Boals at (212) 868-0924 or [email protected].
