Off-Broadway News Carly Sakolove to Play Ethel Merman in Off-Broadway Comedy The Book of Merman The musical comedy will play at St. Luke's Theatre following a sold-out run in Chicago.

The Book of Merman, a new musical comedy in which two Mormon missionaries find themselves on Ethel Merman's doorstep, will premiere Off-Broadway following a sold-out run in Chicago. Bringing Merman to life on the New York stage will be Carly Sakolove, known for her cabaret act I’m Every Woman, and for her impersonations of some of Broadway’s biggest stars on Youtube.

The Book of Merman will begin performances at St. Luke’s Theatre October 5 ahead of an October 21 opening. Joining Sakolove will be Chad Burris, from the national tour of The Book of Mormon, as Elder Shumway, and Kyle Ashe Wilkinson, making his New York debut, as Elder Braithwaite.

Casey Martin Klein and Julie Sommer Peters complete the cast.

The Book of Merman features music and lyrics by Leo Schwartz and book by Schwartz and DC Cathro. Joe Langworth will direct.

The production will feature scenic and lighting design by Josh Iacovelli, costume design by Pablo Borges, wig design by Bobbie Pinz, and sound design by Raymond Schilke.
