Joining Finn for the program, titled "Infinite Joy: Songs of William Finn (or Mostly Unknown Songs Written Recently and Not So Recently)," will be Carolee Carmello, Stephen DeRosa, Wanda Houston and Norm Lewis. Carmello's credits include Parade, while Lewis was most recently seen in The Wild Party on Broadway. DeRosa currently appears in the Roundabout Theatre Company's The Man Who Came to Dinner.
The shows, as the title suggests, will feature some rarely performed Finn tunes as well as selections from an unidentified new production. Finn was last represented on the New York stage by A New Brain at Lincoln Center Theater.
* Those who are interested in seeing what three of Broadway's most prominent composers are up to make want to book a standing reservation at Joe's Pub this fall. The cabaret, situated just off the Public Theatre in Manhattan, will feature, in September and October, evenings of the music of Finn, Michael John LaChiusa and David Yazbek.
It was hard to miss the handiwork of LaChiusa last season. Both his The Wild Party and Marie Christine graced Broadway, each garnering several Tony nominations. On Oct. 16, 23 and 30, Joe's Pub will host "an eclectic, wicked revue of songs" by the songwriter, titled La La LaChiusa. The cast will include Judy Blazer, Matt Bogart, Nathan Lee Graham and Alice Playten, with musical direction by Seth Rudetsky. Yazbek's The Full Monty will bow on Broadway in late September. Before that happens, however, he will find time on Sept. 14 to appear at the pub.
Tickets range in price. For more information, call (212) 239-6200.
