News Carmen Cusack, David Hess, Gavin Gregory, Melissa Joy Hart, Jessie Hooker and More Cast in Milwaukee Rep's Ragtime Casting has been announced for the Milwaukee Repertory Theater's upcoming production of the Tony-winning musical Ragtime, which will kick off The Rep’s 2013-14 60th anniversary season Sept. 17-Oct. 27 in the Quadracci Powerhouse Theater.

Artistic director Mark Clements, who begins his fourth season at Milwaukee Repertory Theater and recently renewed his contract for another four years, will helm the sweeping musical.

The cast will include Luke Brotherhood – Edgar/Ensemble, Melody Betts – Sarah’s Friend/Ensemble, Carmen Cusack – Mother/Ensemble, Jonathan Gillard Daly – Grandfather/Ensemble, Michael Doherty – Younger Brother/Ensemble, Elizabeth Early – Chorus/Ensemble, Kelley Faulkner – Evelyn Nesbitt/Ensemble, Gavin Gregory – Coalhouse/Ensemble, Melissa Joy Hart – Emma Goldman/Ensemble, David Hess – Father/Ensemble, Jessie Hooker – Sarah/Ensemble, Carl Clemons Hopkins – Booker T/Ensemble, Tyler Johnson – Edgar/Ensemble, Josh Landay – Tateh/Ensemble, Gabriel Mudd – Chorus/Ensemble, Beth Mulkerron – Chorus/Ensemble, Shina Ann Morris – Sarah u/s/ Ensemble, Gerard Neugent – Willie Conklin/Ensemble, James Patterson – Ford/Ensemble, Georgina Pink – Little Girl/Ensemble, Sam Strasfeld – Houdini/Ensemble, Steve Watts – Chorus/Ensemble and Mallorey Wallace – Little Girl/Ensemble.

The ensemble will also feature Joe Boersma, Patrick Budde, Anna Cline, Kyle Curry, Kamille Dawkins, Elyse Edelman, Armand BC Fields, Nickclette Izuegbu, Ron King, Martel G Manning, Chris Vizurraga and Sara Zientek.

Musical direction will be provided by Dan Kazemi; Paul Helm is the rehearsal pianist.

Based on the E.L. Doctorow novel, Ragtime interweaves the stories of three distinct families with historical figures to offer a snapshot of America at the turn of the century. Ragtime has a book by Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. The musical opened on Broadway at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts Jan. 18, 1998, earning Tony Awards for Best Score, Best Book, Best Orchestrations and Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Audra McDonald. A 2009 revival played the Neil Simon Theatre.
