Expect eight additional performances each of the celebrated Rodgers & Hammerstein classic, Carousel, now to Sept. 29 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT, and the '60s jukebox musical The Bikinis at the Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, CT. The musical beach party will play Aug. 9-Sept. 9. The Terris is devoted to the development of new musicals. Carousel, which opened Aug. 1, is the classic musical about people not being able to say they love each other, and the hardscrabble lives of workers in a New England town. Its score includes "If I Loved You," "Soliloquy," "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" and "You'll Never Walk Alone."
In the new Bikinis show, according to Goodspeed notes, "The '60s girl group that everyone loves is bringing back the sun, fun and all the great songs they sang on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore...all to raise money to save Sandy Shores Mobile Home Beach Resort. These Jersey Girls relive their heyday in a non-stop celebration of song with over 30 hits," including "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," "Heat Wave" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."
