News Carousel Will Get Concert Presentation With Ben Crawford, Alexandra Silber, Sara Jean Ford and Christopher Fitzgerald Ben Crawford, Alexandra Silber, Sara Jean Ford and Christopher Fitzgerald will join the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra for a concert presentation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel in early 2012.

The lushly scored classic about a tempestuous love affair between gruff carnival barker Billy Bigelow and the young mill worker Julie Jordan will be staged Jan. 6 and 7, 2012, at 8 PM in the Eastman Theatre's Kodak Hall. Jeff Tyzik will conduct, with stage direction by Doug LaBrecque.

Silber (Master Class, The Woman in White, Hello Again) will take on the role of Julie Jordan, which she previously played in London's West End and for L.A.'s Reprise Theatre Company. Crawford (Shrek, Les Miserables) will appear as Billy Bigelow, with Ford (Phantom of the Opera, A Little Night Music) as Carrie Pipperidge and Fitzgerald (Finian's Rainbow, Wicked, Young Frankenstein) as Enoch Snow.

The principal cast will also include Rebecca Eichenberger (Phantom of the Opera, Carousel) as Nettie Fowler, James Leo Ryan (Annie, Peter Pan) as Jigger Craigin, Susan Milner as Mrs. Mullin, John Hennessey as Starkeeper, Vanessa Van Wormer as Louise, Matthew Frazier-Smith as Carousel Boy and Colin Roth as Enoch Snow, Jr.

Carousel has music by Richard Rodgers with a book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It is based on the play Liliom by Ferenc Molnar. The classic features such songs as "If I Loved You," "June Is Bustin' Out All Over," "What's the Use of Wondrin'?," "You'll Never Walk Alone," "Mr. Snow" and "Soliloquy."
