Before her "Star Wars" fame, Fisher made her Broadway debut at age 16 in the 1973 musical revival of Irene, starring her mother, Debbie Reynolds. Fisher has made three more Broadway appearances over the years, in Censored Scenes from King Kong in 1980, Agnes of God in 1982 and Wishful Drinking in 2009, in which she talked about her experience making "Star Wars."

The new film reunites original film cast members Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill as well.
