A musical version of the life of Cary Grant, the film star Oscar-nominated for his work in Penny Serenade and None But the Lonely Heart, is in the works, according to pagesix.com.

The musical will be based on the biography Dear Cary, which was penned by Grant's ex-wife, actress Dyan Cannon. Cannon, who plans to play herself in the production, told the website, “We have a book. We have some songs. The next step is the 29-hour table read.”

The musical will delve into Cannon's institutionalization for her depression as well as the effects her LSD use with Grant had on her.

“It's about the things we think we need in life to make us happy, and we find out that's not the case,” the actress said.

No timeline for the production has been announced.

Born Archibald Alexander Leach, Grant appeared on Broadway in Better Times, Golden Dawn, Boom Boom, A Wonderful Night and Nikki. He was married four times; his marriage to Cannon lasted 1965-68.
