News CA's McCoy Rigby Entertainment Announces 2000-2001 Season Three musicals and two comedies, all of which are aimed at family audiences, have been scheduled by McCoy Rigby Entertainment for its upcoming 2000-2001 season. The company, now in its seventh season producing for the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, recently wrapped a two-year national tour starring Cathy Rigby in Peter Pan. Arts & Entertainment Network will air the acclaimed production on Oct. 8.

Three musicals and two comedies, all of which are aimed at family audiences, have been scheduled by McCoy Rigby Entertainment for its upcoming 2000-2001 season. The company, now in its seventh season producing for the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, recently wrapped a two-year national tour starring Cathy Rigby in Peter Pan. Arts & Entertainment Network will air the acclaimed production on Oct. 8.

MRE's new season will kick off Oct. 6 with the southern California premiere of Over The Tavern, Tom Dudzick's affectionate memory play deals with a rebellious 12-year-old growing up Polish and Catholic in the late 50s.

Everything's Ducky, another southern California premiere, debuts Nov. 24. From the creators of the Broadway smash hits Dream Girls and Sideshow, the musical is based loosely on Hans Christian Andersons' "The Ugly Duckling" and is set in an animal kingdom where ducks rule and wolves drool -- and an ugly duck becomes the hottest swan super-model in the land.

Smoke on the Mountain follows on Jan. 26, 2001, and is also a southern California premiere. Created by the team responsible for Theatre LA Ovation Award-winning Radio Gals and Oil City Symphony, the musical is set in Mt. Pleasant, NC, where Rev. Oglethorpe has invited the Sanders Family Singers to provide an upliftin' evening of singin' and witnessin'.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita will be revived March 21, with Neil Simon's I Ought to be in Pictures concluding the season on June 1. The latter comedy deals with a young teenage daughter rediscovering her relationship with her father.Each 2000-2001 production runs for nineteen performances during a two-and-one-half week period.
