Cast Album Planned for RSC's Matilda

News   Cast Album Planned for RSC's Matilda A cast recording of the Royal Shakespeare Company's musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda is in the works, according to the official website of the family musical.

A 2011 release is expected for the cast album of Matilda, which has music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. The work has a book by Dennis Kelly and is directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage, La Bete).

Performances are scheduled through Jan. 30, 2011, at the Courtyard Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Matilda tells the story of a little girl with extraordinary powers. The three schoolgirls who alternate in the title role are Adrianna Bertola (age 11), Josie Griffiths (age 10) and Kerry Ingram (age 11). They are joined by Lauren Ward as Miss Honey, Bertie Carvel as the headmistress Miss Trunchbull, Paul Kaye and Josie Walker as Matilda's parents Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood, and Peter Howe as Matlida's brother Michael.
