Written, conceived and choreographed by Racey (Curtains, Never Gonna Dance, Thoroughly Modern Millie) in collaboration with Calhoun (Newsies, Jekyll & Hyde), the new work promises "a song and dance celebration that harkens back to the golden age of hoofing."

The cast will feature Racey alongside Lauralyn McClelland, Frances Bradley, Anthony J. Russo, Christopher Erk and Danny Gardner.

"All the people in the world understand the universal language of song and dance," Racey said in a statement. "Pulse explores a wide range of dance styles in American culture, using rhythm as a common denominator. Pulse melds classic hoofing and Broadway-style vocals with a modern approach to the presentation of song and dance. The result is an entirely new style of performance... The performers are also musicians using their bodies as instruments, telling a story through the beat of song and dance."

The creative team includes Tony-nominated set and costume designer Tobin Ost, lighting designer Michael Gilliam, orchestrator Steve Orich, arranger Ross Patterson and sound designer Kevin Kennedy.

Songs in the production include "Nothing New Beneath the Sun," "Educate Your Feet," "Sweet Pea," "Pick Yourself Up," "Once In Love With Amy," "Under My Skin," "Baby I'm A Fool," "Sunny Side of the Street" and more.

In addition to his work as a Broadway performer, Racey served as the resident director/choreographer of the critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year series.

The show runs through June 16 in Asolo Rep’s Mertz Theatre located in The FSU Center for the Performing Arts. For more information, visit AsoloRep.org.
