Peter Hall has announced the cast for his production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet opening Feb. 4, 2001, at the Ahmanson Theatre. The actors (in alphabetic order) are James Avery, Jesse Borrego, Sara Botsford, Lynn Collins, Mark Deakins, Miriam Margolyes, Dakin Matthews, Michael Potts, Michael Tisdale and DB Woodside. Set and costumes will be designed by John Gunter, lighting by Robert Wierzel.

Tickets will go on sale Dec. 15 for the play, Shakespeare's second tragedy and certainly one of his most popular and enduring works. The tale of the star-crossed lovers is perhaps the ultimate love story and has been the basis for countless other works and re-interpretations.

Hall returns to the Ahmanson after directing last season's critically acclaimed production of Amadeus.
