The play will be directed by Jeremy Herrin, who also directed Stenham's previous two plays for the Royal Court, That Face (written when she was just 19, and premiered there in 2007 before transferring to the West End's Albery Theatre, now the Noel Coward) and Tusk Tusk. Described in press materials as "an anarchic twist on the drawing room drama," the play revolves around Robin (to be played by Sturridge), who, fleeing a world he has rejected, finds solace in his music and the sanctuary of his remote family home. But as his kingdom begins to crumble around him, how far will he go to save it and at what cost?
Sturridge last appeared at the Royal Court in Wastwater. Other credits include Punk Rock at the Lyric Hammersmith for which he won a Critics' Circle Outstanding Newcomer Award and was nominated for an Evening Standard Award.
