Part of the company's Salon Series of staged readings, the March 27 reading at the Players Club will feature direction by Erica Gould.
Based on the myth of Theseus and Ariadne, The Minotaur resets the work in a "timeless present," according to show notes, "casting a different light on the monster in the labyrinth [via a] look at love, loss, forgiveness, and the primal longings that connect us to and separate us from our animal selves."
The design team for The Minotaur will include Sarah Brown & Tim Mackabee (set), Pamela Kupper (lighting), Jill DuBoff (sound) and Jeffery Wallach (costume). Emily Park Smith serves as stage manager.
The Salon Series will continue with Chiori Miyagawa's Dividing Ashes (April 24) and conclude with Kim Merrill's Exposure Time (May 29). The readings of new works are presented in non-proscenium environments and are followed by a discussion with the artists and noted guest speakers.
Tickets ($23) for the Salon Series at the Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South at 20th Street, can be purchased by calling (212) 868-4444. For more information visit thefiredept.org.
