American Idol finalists and Broadway alums Constantine Maroulis and Diana DeGarmo head the cast of North Shore Music Theatre's production of the Frank Wildhorn musical Jekyll & Hyde, which begins September 25.
Tony nominee Maroulis (Rock of Ages) once again tackles the roles of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde, the parts he played in the musical's Broadway revival and national tour. DeGarmo (Hair, Hairspray) takes on the role of Lucy, which she played in the world tour of the musical.
The two are joined by Jim Brochu as Sir Danvers Carew, Alison England as Lady Beconsfield and Nellie, Tom Galantich as John Utterson, Michael Padgett as Lord Savage and The Spider, Tess Primack as Emma Carew, and Raymond Jaramillo McLeod as Simon Stride.
The cast also includes Ashley Chasteen, Sean Mitchell Crosley, Elizabeth Flanagan, Kendall Hope, Rebecca Kuznick, Ryan Lambert, Amanda Lopez, Casey Manning, Jesse Michels, William Mulligan, Lottie Mae Prenevost, Andy Tighe, Jeff Williams, and Branch Woodman.
Robert Cuccioli, who earned a Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Tony nomination for his work in the title roles of the original Broadway production of Jekyll, directs the Massachusetts staging, which runs through October 7.
Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, Jekyll & Hyde tells the story of London scientist Dr. Henry Jekyll, who accidentally creates a potion that uncontrollably changes him into a murderous alter ego dubbed Edward Hyde. Conceived for the stage by composer Wildhorn and Steve Cuden (who also has a co-lyricist credit with Leslie Bricusse), the show features such songs as “This Is the Moment,” “In His Eyes,” Someone Like You,” and “A New Life.”
The production also has choreography by Kelli Barclay, musical direction by Milton Granger, scenic and lighting design by Jack Mehler, costume coordination by Kelly Baker, sound design by Daryl Bornstein, wig and hair design by Gerard Kelly, production stage management by Natalie A. Lynch, assistant stage management by Dakotah Wiley Horan, and assistant music direction by Robert L. Rucinski.
Jekyll & Hyde is produced for North Shore Music Theatre by owner Bill Hanney, Producing Artistic Director Kevin P. Hill, and Matthew Chappell, who is the casting director and associate producer.
