Based on the film of the same title, Elf has a score by Wedding Singer songwriters Matthew Sklar (music) and Chad Beguelin (lyrics) and a book by Tony Award winners Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone) and Thomas Meehan (Annie, Hairspray, The Producers).
Arcelus (Jersey Boys, Wicked) starred as Buddy the elf, in a cast that also featured Amy Spanger (Rock of Ages, The Wedding Singer) as Buddy's love interest Jovie, with Tony winner Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone, Mamma Mia!) as Emily.
On hand for the 5 PM performance and signing will be Arcelus, Leavel and Spanger, as well as Matthew Schechter and Matthew Gumley. Sklar and Beguelin will also be in attendance. The Upper East Side Barnes and Noble is located at 150 East 86th Street (at Lexington Avenue).
The original Broadway company reunited during the winter and spring of 2011 to record the cast album, which includes full lyrics and liner notes by Tony-winning Fiddler on the Roof and She Loves Me lyricist Sheldon Harnick. David Lai and Sklar produced the album, which was mixed by Isaiah Abolin. The album was released Nov. 1 from Ghostlight Records.
