News Cast Recording Will Capture Edgar Allan Poe Musical Nevermore The Off-Broadway production Nevermore – The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe is set to release an original cast album in June. The acclaimed show, which combines music, poetic storytelling and stagecraft to recount the story of the legendary poet, will play its final show March 29, following a Jan. 14 start at New World Stages.

A two-disc CD and online release is slated for June 16 from Broadway Records. The cast live-tweeted the recording session today. Check it out here.

The cast recording will feature performances from Gaelan Beatty, Shannon Blanchet, Beth Graham, Ryan Parker, Garett Ross, Scott Shpeley and Lindsie VanWinkle.

According to press notes, it will contain "virtually all of the show’s unique opera-like score, which consists of underscored verse and songs ranging from Weimar cabaret tunes to rock power ballads, and blends fact and fiction to tell the fascinating story of Edgar Allan Poe’s tormented yet transcendent life."

"Nevermore’s many passionate fans have been pleading for a recording of its haunting score throughout the show’s existence," said producers M. Kilburg Reedy and Jason E. Grossman in a press statement. "This goes back as far as Nevermore’s original premiere production in Canada in 2009 at Catalyst Theatre, and has continued at New World Stages, where audiences constantly ask us if there’s a CD." Nevermore was written, composed, and directed by Jonathan Christenson, with production design by Bretta Gerecke, choreography by Laura Krewski, sound design by Wade Staples, and voice, music track production by Matthew Skopyk, and speech and text direction by Betty Moulton.
