Artist in Residence Michael Arden directs the four-person cast. “I'm thrilled to be directing the Los Angeles premiere of Mr. Campbell's masterful play at my artistic home,” said Arden. “I have always been interested in cause and effect in theatre, and this play beautifully examines how our past transgressions ripple and reverberate through time into our present shame and shortfalls. I am so lucky to have assembled a team of incredible designers and a truly exquisite company of actors to bring this timeless work to audiences at the Wallis during Pride month.”

The cast is comprised of Neal Bledsoe, Jessica Collins, Augustus Prew, and Matthew Wilkas.

The Pride is set in both 1958 and 2008. It’s an exploration of the social attitudes and acceptance of sexuality over a 50-year period. In 1958, Phillip and Sylvia are married. However, Phillip is secretly attracted to his wife’s colleague, Oliver. In 2008, Phillip lives with his boyfriend, Oliver, who sabotages his relationships with his addiction to casual sex. Phillip turns to their friend Sylvia for guidance.

The play will run through July 9 in the Wallis’ Lovelace Studio (9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd). For more information, visit TheWallis.org.
