So you're graduating...What's next?"
That terrifying question is the title of the American Theatre Wing's upcoming panel discussion, April 4, held at LaGuardia High School For The Performing Arts on New York's Amsterdam Avenue, noon to 1:15 PM. The panel, presented by the Wing's "Theatre In-School" program, will feature casting agents and staff coordinators who work in the industry answering questions about job options in the world of theatre, film and TV.
The panelists: Julie Hughes (casting director, Hughes Moss), Jan Jarret (agent, Jan J Agency), Lisa Stevenson, (intern coordinator, A.R.T. NY), and Phil Soltanoff (apprentice coordinator, Williamstown Theatre Festival). (Jarret, by the way, represents the ousted "Annie," Joanna Pacitti.)
The American Theatre Wing (ATW) is best known for co-presenting the Tony Awards (with the League of American Theatres & Producers) but also has many educational programs, including "Theatre For Children" (bringing professional theatre to elementary schools) and the "Grants & Scholarship Program." The Wing also holds bi-seasonal "Working In The Theatre" seminars for students and professionals, and "Introduction To Broadway," wherein junior and senior high school students can attend Broadway shows.
