Richard Greenberg's Violet Hour, which will play the Barrington's Mainstage July 16-27, will be directed by Barry Edelstein. The cast will feature Austin Lysy (John Pace Seavering), Brian Avers (Denny), Opal Alladin (Jessie), Heidi Armbruster (Rosamund) and Nat Dewolf (Gidger). Opening night is scheduled for July 20.
The Violet Hour, according to press notes, concerns "a driven young publisher at the start of his career and the mysterious machine that arrives that could radically change his future."
The design team comprises Wilson Chin (sets), Jessica Ford (costumes), Chris Lee (lighting) and Matt Nielson (sound).
My Scary Girl, which features a book by Kyoung-ae Kang and Mark St. Germain, lyrics by Kyoung-ae Kang, music by Will Aronson with additional lyrics by William Finn, will be the second production of BSC's Musical Theatre Lab series. Performance dates are July 10-26.
Directed by Andrew Volkoff, the Girl cast will feature Terence Archie, Heath Calvert, Nathaniel P. Claridad, Deborah S. Craig, Greta Lee and J.P. Moraga. The design team includes Brian Prather (sets), Renee Bell (costumes), Scott Pinkney (lighting) and Jillian Walker (sound). Alma Owen is production stage manager. Scary Girl is based on the Korean film of the same name. "Think 'Little Shop of Horrors' meets 'So I Married an Axe Murderer' meets (a Korean) Gertrude Stein," read press notes.
