Casting Announced for DC World Premiere of Moscows of Nantucket, Opening May 15

News   Casting Announced for DC World Premiere of Moscows of Nantucket, Opening May 15 Sam Forman's The Moscows of Nantucket, a Chekhov-flavored comedy about a family bonding over a summer weekend, gets its world premiere May 11-June 12 at Theater J in Washington, DC.

Forman is the Helen Hayes Award-nominated author of The Rise and Fall of Annie Hall. Shirley Serotsky, who directed the earlier play, directs The Moscows. Opening night is May 15. Here's how Theater J explains the experience: "Things aren't looking so great for Benjamin Moscow (played by James Flanagan). Thirty came and went a while ago, and now he's just moved back in with his parents, his ex-girlfriend left him for a woman, and his career as a novelist appears to have stalled out a good decade ago. When his brother Michael Moscow (Michael Glenn) — an uber-successful television producer who parties with the A-list — escapes L.A. for a few days at the Moscow summer home in Nantucket, he brings with him more than a few surprises. Namely, his new wife, television star and shiksa extraordinaire Virginia Christianson (Heather Haney), and his nanny Sara (Amal Saade), who quickly becomes the object of Benjamin's alcohol-drenched affection. The Moscow matriarch and patriarch Ellen (Susan Rome) and Richard (Bob Rogerson) try to keep their family intact as the reunion becomes a sparring match in which long-buried rivalries crackle and culture shock takes center-stage."

The production team includes scenic designer Robbie Hayes; lighting designer Dan Covey; costume designer Deb Sivigny; associate scenic designer Hannah J. Crowell; and sound designer Elisheba Itoop. Karen Currie is stage manager.

The Washington, DC, Jewish Community Center's Aaron & Cecile Goldman Theater (Theater J's home) is at 1529 16th Street NW in Washington, DC. For tickets and information, call (800) 494-TIXS or visit boxofficetickets.com or theaterj.org.
