News Casting Announced for Free Reading of Kevin Ray Johnson's The Unpredictable Times Casting has been announced for the Dec. 8 free staged reading of Kevin Ray Johnson's coming-of-age drama The Unpredictable Times, which will be held at 7:30 PM at Shetler Studios Penthouse 1.

The evening, which will be co-directed by LeShawn Bell and playwright Johnson, will feature the talents of Bayside! The Musical! stars Sam Harvey and Katie Mebane as Henry and Nicole. The cast will also feature Nick Anastasia as Jake, Esther Chen as Samantha and Sam Eisenhuth as Carl.

Playwright Johnson said in a statement, "I am so excited to have such a talented cast come together for this staged reading, which is really going to bring this piece to the next level. Sam Harvey and Katie Mebane have such an amazing chemistry on and off stage together; I am so excited that they are a part of this project in the roles of Henry and Nicole. Nick Anastasia is such a talented actor and an even greater person and will bring lots of life to the role of Jake, Esther Chen is exactly what I envisioned when it comes to Samantha balancing the right amount of attitude with sincerity and I truly can’t see the role of Carl without seeing Sam Eisenhuth; he has truly given so much to the role and then some."

The Unpredictable Times, according to press notes, "surrounds five friends coming back home to Champlin, Minnesota, after graduating college hoping for the summer of their lives. It might be their last time all together before they go out and face the so called 'Real World.' During the summer they will face unresolved issues from the past and present that will question if their friendship that was developed from childhood is worth saving now as adults."

Johnson's other plays include The Next Day and A Week in the Life of Norah Andrews.

Shetler Studios Penthouse 1 is located at 244 West 54th Street. Reservations for the free reading are required by e-mailing [email protected].
