Lester Purry will star in the title role of the Shakespearean classic, which plays the Guthrie Lab, Nov. 1-Dec. 21. Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling will helm the production, which also features Robert O. Berdahl (Cassio), Virginia S. Burke (Emilia), James Cada (Gratiano), Cheyenne Casebier (Desdemona), Sean Michael Dooley (Senator/Officer/Citizen of Cyprus), Nathaniel Fuller (Brabantio), Brian Goranson (Lodovico), Brian A. Grandison (Senator/Officer/Citizen of Cyprus), Shawn Hamilton (Montano), Ann Kim (Bianca), Bill McCallum (Iago), Peter Moore (Duke of Venice) and Kris L. Nelson (Roderigo). Social order, racial politics and personal ambitions collide in one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies. Iago's obsessive jealousy causes Othello to question his devout wife's fidelity. The suspicion and innuendo eventually lead to rage and tragedy.
