The staging directed by artistic director Guy Sanville will play a 12-week engagement Oct. 4-Dec. 22 at the popular resident theatre founded by actor-writer (and Chelsea native) Jeff Daniels. Opening is Oct. 12.
In the romantic comedy by the author of The Women of Lockerbie, "Professor Sarah Middleton arrives at the University of Copenhagen as a visiting poetry scholar, only to find her life irrevocably altered when she stops by a local pizzeria one night," according to PRTC. "She falls suddenly and unexpectedly in love with Soran Saleen, who wins her heart with his unconventional pizzas. Across a huge cultural divide, their unlikely courtship arouses the passions of everyone around them, setting in motion a rash of culinary courtships and a chaotic comedy of errors."
Sanville calls it "a funny, heartfelt romantic comedy, a grownup fairy tale for anyone who still believes in love."
The cast includes Sarah Benoit, PRTC resident artist Sandra Birch, Ruth Crawford, David Daoust, PRTC resident artist Grant R. Krause, Hugh Maguire, Qarie Marshall and PRTC resident artist Michelle Mountain.
The creative team includes set designer Bartley H. Bauer, lighting designer Dana White, costume designer Meghann O'Malley Powell, prop designer Danna Segrest and sound designer Tom Whalen. Heather A. Hummel stage manages with Stephanie Buck as assistant stage manager. The PRTC production "is generously underwritten by Domino's Pizza," the Michigan-based company.
