A new production of Enid Rudd's The Other Side of Newark will be presented at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center June 19-29.

Directed by Pam Berlin, the production — presented in association with StoryLine Project LLC and PC Entertainment, Inc. — will end NJPAC's 10th anniversary season. Tickets for all performances are priced $10.

The Other Side cast will feature Eva Kaminsky as Rose, Trish McCall as Dinah, Joel Rooks as Dr. Lenn, Mark L. Montgomery as Alan and Najah Johnson as Young Dinah.

The play, according to press notes, is set in the 1930s when "a young, Jewish school teacher takes a position at a predominantly black school in Newark, where she mentors a promising 11-year-old student from an impoverished home. Five decades later, the two meet in a hospital room, where they re-examine the complex history of their relationship."

Newark-born playwright Rudd is also the author of Peterpat, The Ashes of Mrs. Reasoner, Does Anybody Here Do the Peabody?, Step Out of Line, Dearest Cousin and Rumors in the Palace.

Show times at NJPAC's Victoria Theater are Thursdays-Saturdays at 7:30 PM with matinees Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30 PM. For $10 tickets, call (888) 466-5722 or visit www.njpac.org. NJPAC is located at One Center Street in downtown Newark, NJ.
