News Casting Announced for Pittsburgh Public Theater's The Royal Family The Pittsburgh Public Theater will bring back the glamour of 1920s Broadway with a production of George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber's The Royal Family, Sept. 30-Oct. 31 at the O'Reilly Theater in Pittsburgh. An official opening is set for Oct. 8.

Ted Pappas will direct a cast headed by Helena Ruoti as glamorous actress Julie Cavendish, David Whalen as her film idol brother Tony and Jenny Sterlin as her mother, Fanny. Featured actors will include Ross Bickell as Herbert Dean, Jennifer Regan as Kitty Dean, Lindsey Kyler as Gwen and Larry John Meyers as Oscar Wolfe.

Zeva Barzell, Tony Bingham, James FitzGerald, Daryll Heysham and Karen Merritt will round out the cast.

Written in 1927, The Royal Family, according to press notes, "is set in the deluxe New York apartment of the Cavendishes, a fictional family of actors who resemble the legendary Barrymores. The play takes us into the lavish lifestyle of these Roaring Twenties theatrical superstars, whose outrageous behavior is matched only by their love for their work."

James Noone will be the scenic designer, Susan Tsu will design costumes, Kirk Bookman will design lighting and Zach Moore will design sound.
