New York Theatre Workshop will present the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar's The Invisible Hand – directed by two-time Obie winner Ken Russ Schmoll and casting including Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Justin Kirk ("Weeds") – to begin performances Nov. 19.

The production will run through Jan. 4, 2015 with an official opening on Dec. 8 at NYTW (79 E. 4th Street).

Akhtar's Disgraced is currently running on Broadway.

In addition to Kirk, the cast will feature Jameal Ali, Usman Ally (The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity) and Dariush Kashani (The Happiest Song Plays Last).

Here's how the play is billed, "The Invisible Hand follows an American investment banker, kidnapped and held for ransom in Pakistan, as he trades for his life. This suspenseful new play is a chilling and complex look at how far we will go to save ourselves and the devastating ramifications of our individual actions on global power and politics."

The production will feature scenic design by Tony Award nominee Riccardo Hernandez (The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess), costume design by Tony Award nominee ESosa (The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess), lighting design by Obie Award winner Tyler Micoleau (The Fortress of Solitude) and sound design by Lortel Award winner Leah Gelpe.
