Peter Copani’s Blissful The Musical will receive two staged readings at the Davenport Theatre May 6 directed by Daniel Goldstein.

The presentations are set to star Broadway performers William Youmans (Bright Star), Matt Shingledecker (Wicked), Stephanie Leigh (Mary Poppins), Matt Wolpe (Guys and Dolls), Jonah Halperin (Doctor Zhivago), Thursday Farrar (Aida), Jonathan Hadley (Jersey Boys), Nkrumah Gatling (Porgy and Bess) and Elizabeth DeRosa (Mary Poppins).

The new work features a book, music and lyrics by Copani. It is billed as a story of “love, betrayal and revelation,” about an entrepreneur whose kindness is mistaken for weakness.

Blissful will be presented at 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM, with musical direction by Doug Katsaros.
