News Casting Announced for TheatreZone's Chess Casting has been announced for TheatreZone's upcoming production of Chess, which will be presented March 6-16 at the G&L Theatre on the campus of The Community School of Naples.

The cast of the Florida production will feature Michael Amante as The American Freddie Trumper, Larry Alexander as The Russian challenger Anatoly Sergievsky, Sue Nock as Florence Vassy, Bruce Rebold as Alexander Molokov, Karen Molnar as Svetlana, Gerritt VanderMeer as Walter, Greg Jensen as The Arbiter, Dan Lamey as Gregor, Cecilia Nakfor as Young Florence with Dana Cohen and Laura Needle in the ensemble.

The musical will be helmed by artistic director Mark Danni with choreography by Karen Molnar and musical direction by Michael Horsley.

Chess features music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and lyrics by Tim Rice. The story, according to previous press notes, "revolves around the two top players, an American and a Russian, in a world chess tournament. They find themselves competing for both the championship and for the affections of the woman who manages one, yet yearns for the other." The pop score includes “One Night in Bangkok," “Anthem” and “I Know Him So Well.”

The production team includes lighting designer Anne Carncross, stage manager Danielle Ranno, set designer Chris Rich, sound designer Tim Frank and costumer Kathleen Kolacz.
