News Casting Announced for Tour of Shrek the Musical Casting has been announced for the new U.K. and Ireland touring production of Shrek the Musical, which will begin performances July 23 at the Grand Theatre, Leeds before continuing around the country.

Dean Chisnall in Shrek

Dean Chisnall, who has previously played the title role of the swamp-dwelling ogre Shrek in the West End, will reprise that role, with Faye Brookes as damsel-in-distress Princess Fiona, Idriss Kargbo as Shrek's wisecracking sidekick Donkey and Gerard Carey as pint-sized villain Lord Farquaad.

Nigel Harman, who originated the role of Lord Farquaad in the West End and for which he won an Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical, will direct a cast that also includes Bronté Barbé, Nikki Bentley, Jennifer Caldwell, Candace Furbert, Steffan Harri, Will Haswell, James Lacey, Mia Lincoln, Neil Moors, Jenny O’Leary, Georgina Parkinson, Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton, Ryan Reid, Leo Roberts, Jacqui Sanchez, Oliver Tester and Kerry Winter.

The U.K. and Ireland tour will be presented by Dreamworks Theatricals, Neal Street Productions, Playful Productions, Lee Menzies, Ron Kastner, Tulchin/Bartner Productions, Saracen Films, Mark Cartwright, Gavin Kalin, Glass Half Full Productions/Just For Laughs Theatricals.
