News Casting Announced for Trinity Rep's A Raisin in the Sun Barbara Meek and Joe Wilson Jr. will head the cast of Lorraine Hansberry's classic African American family drama A Raisin in the Sun for Trinity Rep.

Running Jan. 30-March 8, A Raisin in the Sun will be directed by Trinity Rep veteran Brian McEleney and star Meek as Lena Younger and Wilson Jr. as Walter Lee Younger. The Pulitzer Prize-winning work officially opens Feb. 4.

The cast will also feature Mauro Hantman, Johnny Lee Davenport, Charlie Hudson III, Lynnette Freeman, Angela K. Thomas, Jude Sandy, Will Shaw, Dustin Isom and Nigel Richards.

"One of the reasons this play is so great is that it is utterly specific and at the same time utterly timeless," said director McEleney in a statement. "Like most great realistic plays, A Raisin in the Sun allows us to see the general through the specific, to look at a single family at a single moment in time and to see our own inner lives reflected back at us through their struggles. Through brilliant, beautifully examined characterization, we see the world through the eyes of all the members of the Younger family, and we identify with their dreams, their conflicts, their setbacks and their triumphs."

The Trinity Rep production has set designs by Michael McGarty, costumes by William Lane, lighting by Peter Sasha Hurowitz and sound design by John Ambrosone.

Tickets to A Raisin in the Sun at Trinity Rep, 201 Washington Street in Providence, RI, are available by calling (401) 351-4242. For more information visit www.trinityrep.com.
