Presented by the Village Theatre as part of its Village Originals series, Stunt Girl concerns the life of the late reporter Nellie Bly. The new musical features music by David Friedman and book and lyrics by Peter Kellogg. David Bennett directs. Katie Tomlinson will head the cast as Nellie Bly, the woman who became "a groundbreaking investigative journalist, [an] intrepid world traveler and [a] captain of industry, all in an age when women didn't even have the right to vote." The workshop company will also feature Allen Galli as John Cockerill, Ron Gonzalez as Arthur Brisbane, Allen Fitzpatrick as Robert Seaman, Allan Barlow as Joseph Pulitzer, Haley Ostrander as Phoebe and Eric Polani Jensen as Howard Martin. The ensemble comprises Nicole Boote, Charissa Bertels, Michaela Koerner, Vicki Noon, Sharva Maynard, Tyler Rhoades, Dennis Bateman, David Earl Hart, Brian Lange and Jeff Church.
Stunt Girl, according to press notes, "captures the adventure and romance, dreams and disappointments, thrills and sorrows of a true trailblazer." Show times are April 28 and 29 at 8 PM and April 30 at 2 PM.
