News Casting Complete for 25th Anniversary Production of Nunsense at Cherry Lane Theatre A 25th anniversary production of Dan Goggin's Nunsense will begin performances June 13 at Off-Broadway's Cherry Lane Theatre, where the musical comedy debuted in 1985.

The production will officially open June 20, and performances will continue through July 18. Creator Goggin will direct a cast that comprises Bonnie Lee as Reverend Mother Mary Regina, Bambi Jones as Sister Mary Hubert, Maria Montana as Sister Robert Anne, Stephanie Wahl as Sister Mary Leo, and Jeanne Tinker as Sister Mary Amnesia.

The Cherry Lane revival will follow the recent release of a DVD recording of Meshuggah-Nuns!, a musical celebration of both Catholic and Jewish traditions, and one of several musical spinoffs from the original musical. The DVD was just released by Kultur, International Films.

The newest spinoff, Sister Robert Anne's Cabaret Class, will soon be seen at theatres around the country.

Nunsense, according to press notes, "follows the riotous escapades of five nuns from the Little Sisters of Hoboken who realize that one of their own, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned to death 52 fellow nuns in the convent while the quintet was off playing Bingo." The show's musical numbers include "Nunsense is Habit-Forming," "So You Want to be a Nun," "The Dying Nun Ballet," "Baking with the BVM" and "Holier Than Thou."
