News   U.K. Funny Girl Tour, Starring Sheridan Smith, Launches Feb. 18 Performances of the classic musical comedy begin in Manchester.

The U.K. and Ireland tour of the Menier Chocolate Factory production of Funny Girl, starring Olivier winner Sheridan Smith as Fanny Brice, launches February 18 at the Manchester Palace Theatre.

Richard Fitch directs the tour based on Tony winner Michael Mayer's original direction. The production also has choreography by Lynne Page.

Playing opposite Smith is Chris Peluso as Nick Arnstein; they will perform in Manchester, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Southampton, Bradford, Southend, Cardiff, and Dublin. It was also recently announced that the run will extend for a further two weeks, returning to Manchester to complete its run with Smith and Peluso playing the final dates.

Natasha J. Barnes and Darius Campbell will play Fanny Brice and Nick Arnstein, respectively, in Stoke, Aberdeen, Woking, Canterbury, Glasgow, Nottingham, Norwich, Llandudno, Wolverhampton, and Plymouth.

The company also includes Nigel Barber (Florenz Ziegfeld), Zoë Ann Bown (Mrs. Meeker), Martin Callaghan (Mr. Keeney), Jennifer Harding (Emma), Rachel Izen (Mrs. Brice), Joshua Lay (Eddie), and Myra Sands (Mrs. Strakosh) with Rhianne Alleyne, Kit Benjamin, Lloyd Davies, Flora Dawson, Joseph Dockree, Abigayle Honeywill, Brontë Lavine, David Mcintosh, Peter Nash, Gillian Parkhouse, Tom Partridge, Nova Skipp, Alexandra Waite-Roberts, Sam Wingfield, and Alexandra Wright.

Sonia Friedman Productions, Scott Landis Productions, Chocolate Factory Productions, Dante Di Loreto, and Michael Harrison present The Menier Chocolate Factory production of Funny Girl.

The classic musical has a score by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill, and a book by Isobel Lennart from an original story by Lennart. Tony winner Harvey Fierstein penned the revised book.

The creative team also includes set designer Michael Pavelka, costume designer Matthew Wright, lighting designer Mark Henderson, sound designer Richard Brooker, musical supervisor and arranger Alan Williams, and orchestrator Chris Walker.
