David Thompson adapted the Charles Dickens classic, which will feature direction by Michael Unger. Previews will begin Dec. 2 with an official opening Dec. 7 on the McCarter's Matthews Stage; the limited engagement will run through Dec. 23.
Heading the cast as Ebenezer Scrooge will be James A. Stephens, who was seen on Broadway in 45 Seconds from Broadway and Off-Broadway in House and Garden. Stephens will be joined onstage by Lisa Altomare, Barnaby Carpenter, Kevin Collins, Kathy Fitzgerald, Richard Gallagher, Karron Graves, Janet Metz, Ned Noyes, John O'Creagh, Karen Pittman and Ronica Reddick.
The adult ensemble comprises Joel Bauer, Adolpho Blaire, Christopher Brady, Laurie Gardner, Jason Benjamin Gill, Shanna Heverly, Nick Kepley, Mary Elizabeth Milton, Mahalia Miner-LeGrand, Jed Peterson and Jill Sanders.
A Christmas Carol, according to press notes, is a "timeless holiday masterpiece of Ebenezer Scrooge and his magical journey into Christmas past, present and future."
The design team includes set designer Ming Cho Lee, costume designer Jess Goldstein, lighting designer Stephen Strawbridge and sound designer Brian Ronan. The production will feature music and lyrics by Michael Starobin, choreography by Rob Ashford and musical direction by Charles Sundquist.
