Tony Award-winning composer Marc Shaiman recently talked with CNN about his journey to Broadway, his latest musical Catch Me If You Can (currently playing at the Neil Simon Theatre) and his life-changing moment when he and partner Scott Witman won the Tony for their work on the musical Hairspray.

Here, Shaiman explains how he started out as a vocal arranger for Bette Midler and would continue to work on films such as "Sister Act" and "South Park." However, the composer knew that his talents belonged on Broadway.

Catch Me If You Can officially opened April 10 at the Neil Simon Theatre and is based on the life of charming conman Frank Abagnale Jr., played on stage by Aaron Tveit (Next to Normal).
