Florida Stage, South Florida's theatre dedicated to new plays, continues its 16th season with the American premiere of Billy Roche's The Cavalcaders, Jan. 31-March 9.
The bittersweet comedy-with-music was previously staged at the Tricycle Theatre in London and the Lyric Theatre in Belfast, and is published by Dramatists Play Service.
According to production notes, "The Cavalcaders explores the lives and loves of four barbershop singers from small-town Ireland. These likely lads spend their days mending shoes and their nights as singers of local legend. But their close musical harmonies are not reflected in their private lives."
Director Andrew J. Robinson makes his Florida Stage debut helming a cast that includes members Kerrie Blaisdell, Brian Cooper, James Gleason, Morlon Higgins, David Holladay and Kitty Swink.
Designers are Richard Crowell (set), Suzanne M. Jones (lighting), Ilona Somogyi (costume) and Matt Kelly (sound). Musical director is Craig D. Ames. Tickets are $35-$40. Florida Stage is located at Plaza del Mar shopping center, 262 S. Ocean Boulevard, in Manalapan, FL.
