We are happy to welcome guest celebrity blogger Montego Glover, a 2010 Tony nominee for her performance in Memphis. Glover, who has also been seen on Broadway in The Color Purple, will blog for Playbill.com all week; her first entry follows:
Hi guys. It's me Montego Glover. I'm the leading lady in an awesome new musical called Memphis, and Playbill.com has graciously allowed me to share my everyday thoughts with you...however boring.
So today is Monday. Blessed blessed Monday. I have the day off, which consists of sleeping till 10 (rare). Up, shower, dress, Rice Crispies while listening to Diana Krall, (and in case you're wondering just milk in my Rice Crispies) and then off to the grocery store because Ms. Glover has no food in the house! That's a sin. I'm a Southern girl. Food is our friend, and I don't function well when there's no food.
Coupons in hand, backpack with discount card, and reusable grocery bags in tow, I'm off.
Shopping is a cinch when you go in the morning, and after a brief stop at the Office Max for home office supplies, I'm in the thick of it. You should know that I grocery shop about once every two or three months, so as the cart begins to fill I always think people are staring at this relatively small woman with huge amounts of food in her cart. Finally at check out the woman behind me says, "Big family huh?" I say, "No, just me." I think she died inside. Where am I putting it?
With all of my yummies purchased, it's a car back to my condo, lunch, endless email/phone call/returns, interviews regarding my first Tony nomination – yay - and my first Home Owners Association meeting tonight, followed by some much-anticipated time with my DVR, a return call to Grandma, and in bed early if I can swing it. I gotta show tomorrow!
See 'ya then!
