Rivers will bring her latest stand-up act to the Manhattan venue June 25. Show time is 7:30 PM. Rising indie drag band She-Dick will serve as Rivers' opening act. The evening, according to press notes, is "timed to coincide with New York City's annual Gay Pride Week. Rivers presents an evening of her newest and most outrageous riffs on 'Celebrity Apprentice,' Hollywood, pop culture, celebrities, reality TV and award show fashion."
The venue will be transformed into an intimate nightclub with cabaret tables in the orchestra section, a full bar and waiter service.
Joan Rivers made her Broadway stage debut in Fun City and later was a replacement player in Neil Simon's Broadway Bound. A stand-up comic making guest-host appearances on "The Tonight Show," Rivers eventually hosted her own talk show, "The Joan Rivers Show." She received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress for her work in Sally Marr...and Her Escorts — which she also co-wrote. Her most recent theatrical outing was in her autobiographical A Work in Progress by a Life in Progress.
Tickets are $25-$125 with net proceeds going to Rivers' favorite charities: God's Love We Deliver and Guide Dogs for the Blind; tickets are available at (212) 352-3101 or www.SpinCycleNYC.com.
