Second Stage Theater has announced complete casting for its upcoming production of A Parallelogram, Bruce Norris’ dark comedy about the things we can and can't control in life. Leading the cast will be Tony nominees Celia Keenan-Bolger and Stephen Kunken, under the direction of Dear Evan Hansen and War Paint director Michael Greif.
Performances of A Parallelogram will begin July 11 in the Tony Kiser Theater, ahead of an August 2 opening. Rounding out the cast are Juan Castano and Anita Gillette.
Keenan-Bolger will play Bee, a woman who can click through different moments in her life with the touch of a remote control. “Past, present and future collide in this sharp existential comedy that questions whether we can make peace with those things we don’t have the power to change,” read production notes from 2ST. The play premiered in Chicago at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in 2010.
The 2ST production will feature scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Jeff Mahshie, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Matt Tierney, animal training by William Berloni, and casting by Telsey + Co.
Norris’ Clybourne Park won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play as well as the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. His other plays include The Infidel, Purple Heart, We All Went Down to Amsterdam, The Pain and the Itch, The Unmentionables, and The Qualms.
