Trip Cullman (Some Men, Swimming in the Shallows) will direct the New York premiere of the work scheduled to start previews July 12. Opening night is July 26 at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre for the run through Aug. 7. According to a Bachelorette announcement, "On the eve of her wedding, Becky has arranged the perfect bachelorette celebration - but after two party crashers, one manipulative maid of honor, and a bathtub of booze, things don’t go according to plan."
Herlihy (Buffalo Gal, columbinus), Keenan-Bolger (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Cash (Killers and Other Family, Offices) and Thomas ("American Pie," Dog Sees God) will be joined in the cast by Tracee Chimo (Circle Mirror Transformation) and Tate Ellington (The Philanthropist).
Headland's plays include Seven Deadly Plays: Cinephilia (lust), Bachelorette (gluttony), Assistance (greed), Surfer Girl (sloth) and Reverb (wrath). She currently writes for the new FX series "Terriers."
Second Stage Theatre's 2010 Uptown Series kicked off earlier this summer with the New York premiere of Michael Golamco’s Year Zero as directed by Will Frears.
The mission of the Uptown Series is "to help develop and provide exposure for the voices of a new generation of theatre artists," according to Second Stage. Each show is allotted a limited rehearsal period and a streamlined budget.
