Center Theatre Group Names Edward L. Rada Managing Director; Douglas C. Baker Is Producing Director

News   Center Theatre Group Names Edward L. Rada Managing Director; Douglas C. Baker Is Producing Director Center Theatre Group, the Los Angeles theatre company that programs the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum and the Kirk Douglas Theatre, will welcome Edward L. Rada as its new managing director this summer. CTG artistic director/CEO Michael Ritchie announced the appointment on May 16.

Rada was the chief financial officer of Center Theatre Group for 12 years (1996-2008) and is currently the president of the Music Center Foundation.

Rada will work in collaboration with Ritchie to ensure the effective and efficient operation of all aspects of the institution. He will supervise all management, financial, marketing, development, technology and human resources of the company, reporting to Ritchie.

Rada will return to CTG on July 1, after CTG managing director Charles Dillingham steps down on June 30 from the position he has held for 20 years.

In addition to the naming of the new managing director, Ritchie also announced that longtime CTG general manager Douglas C. Baker has been promoted to the newly created position of CTG producing director. In this capacity, Baker will take on the added responsibility of supervising and managing the productions and operations for all three of CTG's theatres, as well as continuing his responsibilities in management, administration and facilities. He will continue to report to the managing director.

Baker has been with CTG since 1990, and prior to that he managed Broadway and touring productions including A Chorus Line, Annie and The Wiz. Baker is an active member of The Broadway League, Independent Presenters Network, League of Resident Theatres and National Alliance of Musical Theatres.
