Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Joins DG Concerts

Classic Arts News   Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Joins DG Concerts

The first recording in a new collaboration between Deutsche Grammophon's digital concerts series and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is now available on iTunes.

CMS's debut release features a November concert at Alice Tully Hall called "Debussy and the Moderns — Six Sonatas for Diverse Instruments." The idea for the program came from pianist Emanuel Ax, who, during his season-long Perspectives series at Carnegie Hall in 2003-04, invited Marc-Andr_ Dalbavie, Kaija Saariaho and Steven Stucky to write chamber sonatas to complete the planned cycle of six that Debussy was unable to finish before his death in 1918.

The recording was produced by Da-Hong Seetoo, the Emerson String Quartet's recording producer and balance engineer.

The next recording by the CMS for DG Concerts, to be released this spring, will include repertoire by Telemann, Handel and Bach.

DG Concerts has also recently offered downloads of performances by the New York Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
