News Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Given Major Extension in the West End The West End production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has extended its run at Theatre Royal Drury Lane through June 4, 2016. The new booking period will be on sale Feb. 9.

Producers also revealed that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory broke the record for the highest weekly gross sales at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane for a third time, taking more than £1.1 million in the week commencing Dec. 29, 2014. That week saw the 2,200 seat theatre – one of the largest in the West End - 100 percent full for every performance.

The production celebrated its 700th performance in the West End Jan. 24.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is directed by Sam Mendes with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman, a book by award-winning playwright and adaptor David Greig, set and costume designs by Mark Thompson and choreography by Peter Darling.

The cast recording album is available on Sony Records, on CD and download.
