As of press time, the performers for the two shows will include John Cariani, Will Chase, Alexander Gemignani, Max von Essen, Donna Lynne Champlin, Natascia Diaz, Marty Thomas, Montego Glover, Robb Sapp, Natalie Joy Johnson, Adam Fleming, Brooke Sunny Moriber, Eric Michael Gillett and Tyler Hanes. Some of the actors will appear in only one of the two concerts, some in both shows. The Flopz concert, which offers “the best songs from egregiously overlooked shows,” will begin at 7 PM, while the Cutz concert, offering “songs you don’t know from shows you love,” will commence at 9 PM. Producer Jamie McGonnigal will direct the evening of little-heard tunes with musical direction by Michael Lavine. Performers will be announced shortly.
The Flopz and Cutz series, according to press notes, “aim to acquaint theatre enthusiasts with shows and songs that, while not quite successful in their original incarnations, still have merits that can be showcased in a concert setting.”
Tickets for both concerts are $25 each. Those wishing to attend both can do so for $40. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Joey DiPaolo AIDS Foundation and CAMP TLC. Joe’s Pub is located within the Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Avenue. For reservations call (212) 239-6200 or visit www.telecharge.com.
